After a successful 20-year career as a qualified accountant in the city, a major cardiac incident led me to reevaluate my life and pursue a career in fitness. In the past four years, I have transformed my own health by reversing diabetes with exercise and diet plans and achieved a 20 kg weight loss whilst enhancing my muscle mass, endurance, strength, fitness, flexibility, and balance. This personal journey has fuelled my passion for helping others, whether they are younger or older, new to the gym or seasoned fitness enthusiasts.
Having overcome my own gym anxiety, I understand the importance of building confidence in the fitness environment. I'm passionate about helping clients feel comfortable, knowledgeable, and empowered in the gym setting.
From a very young age, I faced numerous dietary challenges that significantly impacted my daily life. After extensive allergy tests at Great Ormond Street Hospital, I was diagnosed with multiple food allergies and intolerances, including gluten and dairy. This led to a strictly controlled diet, including an anti-candida regimen, and a daily routine of taking 13 different supplements to ensure proper nutrition.
Living with these restrictions wasn't just about avoiding certain foods; it came with real, often uncomfortable symptoms. I experienced frequent gastrointestinal issues, fatigue, and skin problems when I inadvertently consumed trigger foods.
These challenges taught me firsthand about the profound connection between diet and overall well-being.
Growing up with these restrictions gave me a unique perspective on the importance of personalized nutrition and the impact it can have on health. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my approach to nutrition coaching, allowing me to empathize with clients facing similar challenges and develop effective, tailored dietary strategies that address not just weight, but overall health and comfort.
My commitment to fitness has been significantly shaped by my personal experiences with injuries. Over the years, I’ve undergone several surgeries,
including three knee operations and two shoulder surgeries. Additionally, I’ve rehabilitated from a ruptured Achilles tendon, tennis elbow, bicep tendinopathy, quadriceps tendinopathy, and lower hamstring tendonitis. These challenges have made me more resilient and provided me with invaluable insights into injury prevention and rehabilitation. I understand both the physical and mental hurdles of recovery, which allows me
to offer empathetic and effective guidance to clients facing similar obstacles.
I am skilled in working with clients referred by GPs for exercise programs tailored to manage conditions such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, COPD, stress and anxiety, depression, arthritis, osteoporosis, and lower back pain.
